Description

There is no rescue in “The Long Walk North.” Because unlike the evening newscasters, Bill Cotter knows which part of the story to tell: the setting out, the part you can never quite get a handle on, the part with all the questions, the lead up, the messy bits, the posturing and the promises and the too-little-to-lates. - Halimah Marcus, Editor-in-Chief, Electric Literature's Recommended Reading.

About the Author: Bill Cotter’s short fiction has appeared in McSweeney’s Quarterly Concern, The Paris Review, and elsewhere, and an essay, “The Gentleman’s Library,” was awarded a Pushcart Prize. His third novel, Saint Philomene’s Infirmary, is forthcoming from Henry Holt in 2016. Cotter lives in Austin, where he labors as a dealer in early printed books.

About the Publisher: Electric Literature is an independent publisher amplifying the power of storytelling through digital innovation. Electric Literature’s weekly fiction magazine, Recommended Reading, invites established authors, indie presses, and literary magazines to recommended great fiction. Once a month we feature our own recommendation of original, previously unpublished fiction.
