Description
A husband's search for his wife's lover, lost amidst the turbulence of the Yom Kippur war, is the heart of this dreamlike novel. Writing from the widely different perspectives of the main characters, Yehoshua manages to capture both modern-day Israel and its ancient past in addition to creating intensely human protagonists. Critical of Israeli society and the way in which Zionism has been distorted, this novel was both highly controversial and a spectacular best-seller in Israel, bringing international acclaim to its remarkable author.
