Ruth Galloway, an inquisitive archaeologist, finds herself drawn into a chilling historical mystery when she discovers the remains of what could be a notorious Victorian child murderess alongside the bones of an infant. Set against the backdrop of a picturesque yet haunting Norfolk landscape, her investigation uncovers dark secrets that have lingered in the shadows of time. The delicate balance between past and present begins to unravel as Ruth digs deeper into the lives intertwined with these skeletal remains.

As she collaborates with the local police, Ruth becomes increasingly entangled in a web of intrigue and danger. I do not read many series, and not many mystery books such as these. I've always preferred the grittier ones. However, I am glad that I have found this series. It's all a bit unlikely and silly how an archeologist a always seems to get tangled up in some cr8me or other. And all the personal life stuff seems to have come much more to the forefront of things recently. But I like the slightly mystical spooky element too. He authir creates a really lovely balance between everything that makes this series feel very comforting and cosy.
