I do not even know where to begin with this review. It's hard to put into words, how this book feels like it is a part of my soul.I have read a lot of books this year, I found 2 new favourite series as well as this but far more flops than I care to admit. It almost feels like most fantasy I have been reading just didn't have enough depth in them. And I don't mean philosophical depth but plot depth. I am so sick of stories with 1 plot line that is obvious where it goes and sub plots are pointless. This book had so many interweaving stories and characters and side plots that every time I put it down, I couldn't stop thinking about it. The first POV we get through me off for so long. I couldn't figure out why we needed to read it when it wasn't our MC but we eventually get answers and it was so satisfying. To keep getting ends tied up then new things happening, I was sucked in from the get go and would of read this book in 1 day had I not had to sleep.I am now deeply depressed that I have to wait for the next book. But super thankful that I have Illumicrates stunning edition.
This is objectively a superb fantasy, great characters, each with their own recognizable voice, great plot. Writing is also quite magnificent- some of the turns of phrases tingled my brain very pleasantly many a time. I could not, however, connect to any of the characters, which made it work to read this book.
