THE RECKONING, third volume of dystopian fantasy series FRANKENSTEIN VIGILANTE, takes up the story where part two, THE FEAR, left off. City-state The Smoke is in more turmoil than ever, with the Commission back in charge, conniving with ruthless mobsters the Silencios to suppress and exploit the increasingly miserable citizenry. The fate of The Smoke once again rests on Cerval Franks and the Incorruptibles, who, along with a ragtag alliance of resistance groups - the Goth-like Matetelkoyas, Los Gatos Salvajes, Paulina Ellamova's pit-pony cavalry - take on the Commission and their Topper backers in an exciting and bloody climax.
