Description
What is this life all about? So many people tell us what life means, what to believe, what to do, how to do it, and what to think whilst doing it. I’m over seventy years old now, and I believe that I’ve finally made some sense of it. It took me until now because most things in life do not function in the way that we are led by almost everyone and everything, to believe they do. As fast as I thought I’d found some acceptable answers, something or someone happened in my life, causing me to re-think my ideas and beliefs about life, love and the pursuit of happiness. When I was younger, I followed the well trodden path to contentedness by looking for ‘The Truth’. The problem with this is that if you go outside of yourself for the truth, the truth you get will depend on who you ask. The only truth that can really matter to you and provide your contentedness is your truth. Plato is credited with the expression, ‘The unexamined life is not worth living’. This book is in invitation to examine various beliefs, behaviors and choices you have made, and continue to make in your life.I’ve subtitled the book ‘A Manifesto for Genuine Change’ because generally, self-help books aim to solve some perceived problem in your life. As in ‘this book will change your life’ and make you slimmer, richer, happier, more attractive, sexier, irresistible, calmer etc. And they all tell you the truth. Much in this book is quite provocative in its directness, but it doesn’t tell you the truth. It does however hold a series of alternative thoughts about the way we can live our life, because many of the beliefs that got us to where we are now will not optimally allow us to move on to the next phase of our lives, whatever we decide that to be. And the magical thing is that when you change your beliefs about yourself and the world and become aware of yourself, what you really are, what you are really doing here, problems you thought you had will disappear without any conscious effort. You will suddenly notice that you don’t do those problems anymore, because you don’t have to. Whatever problem you did will simply become an option which you now no longer need to choose.------------You see Doctor, it hurts when I do this.Do the words ‘stop doing it’ mean anything to you?
