View AllFirst of all, you need to keep an open mind theologically speaking while reading this book. Beyond that, I think the biggest message is that there is hope and healing for those who are in a a pit of despair and deeply grieving the loss of someone dear to them (perhaps even blaming themselves for the loss). The other message is that they can learn to forgive people; even those who are responsible for very dark hurtful parts of their past. It was a good read and I think it gave me a greater appreciation for the Holy Trinity and the sacrifice of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
