The Shishi

John Mung was one of the first Japanese to witness the world outside his own country and, according to law, he should have been executed for ever having left Japan. But now, eighteen years after his return from America, Mung is head of the Black Dragon society — the eyes and cars of the Emperor — and is anxious to enlist the help of western advisors in wrenching Japan into the modem age. But ranged against him is a formidable array of powerful and fanatical opponents — men like The Golden Lizard, leader of the tattooed men, who will stop at nothing to thwart Mung’s plans. With the fate of all he holds dear inextricably entwined with the destiny of Japan, Mung must once more employ brilliant strategy, diplomacy and fighting prowess to out manoeuvre his enemies and to earn the title of The Shishi — Man of High Purpose.
