Description
Because he has been exposed to measles, young Jakes must stay with elderly friends of his parents. He is lonely until Sand Boy, his own creation of pebbles and shells, comes to life. Their pleasant companionship is shared with Cockle, a mermaid, but is spoilt by the threat of a sea monster Glumper.
