Description
The Thistle Chapel in St Giles’ Cathedral is the chapel of the Order of the Thistle, Scotland’s premier order of chivalry. A jewel of the Arts and Crafts movement, it was built in 1910–11. This book, which highlights the people who worked on the design and construction of the Chapel, follows the first full renovation of the Chapel since it was opened. The book contains 87 photographs, many of which have not been published before, which illustrate the process of the Chapel’s construction and the extraordinary detail of its decoration. A unique insight is given into one of Scotland’s most fascinating buildings.
