The Weeping Doves

Lyndsey McLaren is living in Mayfair with her Uncle Richard and Aunt Marian at the height of the Blitz. She works tirelessly in a center for the bombed and homeless, and at night escapes from the pain and ugliness in dreams of her childhood in quiet, friendly Echo Cove. One day she encounters Bette, and becomes a member of her concert party, soon earning a racy reputation. She meets Andrew, a young RAF officer, and Elliott, a friend of her uncle, but it is not until she joins the Wrens that she begins to realize who matters most to her.
