🛸 ARC Review 👽"Did he understand what was happening to him? As she left him, her braid--the one he has just made--swung side to side, like a noose."In this sci-fi romance, we follow two galactic travelers - Airik from the Veynari empire, tall, with gray skin and black fingernails & Nora, a human heading to Mars. The portals have been acting up. When Nora's pod sends her straight into Airik's path and they crash on the planet Airik was assigned to destroy, because practically everything is poisonous, the two form an unlikely friendship while they try to survive and maybe, just maybe, have a hope of rescue. This was such a fun book! It's kind of like Castaway, but with two strangers. More Castaway than Robinson Crusoe or maybe Passengers where there's infrastructure. Just, there aren't any other people left. The dual POVs were lovely and I enjoyed when it switched. Because - it wasn't an every other chapter flip-flop, only a change when the story required it, which I thought was great! The majority of the book centers around just these characters. For me, this time in the book was more lengthy than necessary. It dragged at points. It's a slower paced book anyway, so the monotony of their time on the planet felt a bit too strung out.I liked the book - I just wish some parts moved faster. I think it could've been 125 pages shorter and would've been even more impactful. If you like the movie Passengers, Dark Romances, or books with, primarily, 2 characters, you may like this book.
