I loved almost everything about this book. I loved the characters, the story, the friendship dynamic. I especially loved Darcy's journey of finding herself, and I could really relate to many of the things she was struggling with. Her struggles felt real and not overwritten, if that makes sense.I diiiiid get a moderate ick with everything Hayden was thinking and doing throughout the years regarding Darcy. Honestly, a lot of the things he did are only hot because you know they’re into each other—and because he’s a hot hockey player. There’s yearning for the woman you love (and there were plenty of amazing scenes like that here), and then there’s “well… that’s a bit creepy.”Also, the whole miscommunication of “oh, he doesn’t want a serious relationship so I’m not gonna get too invested in this” felt a bit overused for me. I get not wanting to ruin the friendship by complicating things, but at some point… you’ve already crossed the point of no return for a friendship.Overall, I did enjoy this book a loooot—I just had to switch off my pragmatic brain a little more.
