Theocracy or Democracy

"Theocracy or Democracy?" shows that the threat of theocracy is real. It is all the more sinister because it is insidious, because it is cloaked in virtue, because American workers are not forewarned. The subject of theocracy urgently needed Marxist analysis. The De Leonist scholar, Arnold Petersen, in analyzing it, has written a powerful and convincing document. In the present volume the analysis has been carried further by the addition of "In Defense of Slavery," exposing those who, in the name of their God, have defended slavery, both chattel and wage slavery. By " Father of Slavery," which treats of the subjugation of man to his man-made gods, with its counterpart in social and economic subjugation to a ruling class, contrasted with mankind's emancipation that can come only through Socialist society freed from class-sundering creeds. And, finally, this volume contains a goodly number of quotations on "priestcraft and creeds, Church and State, and theocratic pretensions" voiced by Thomas Jefferson.
