Tokyo Babylon Review Art: It's CLAMP As always the noodle style is here full force with amazingly beautiful people. However this time there is a nitpick and that is that two of the characters a boy and a girl look exctly alike making it hard to distinguish who is who at times. BCharacters: Subaru, seishiro, hakuto. Subaru is a excoristi of sorts, seishiro is also one and a vet and hakuto...is an annoying boy love fangirl. Sadly character wise this is not one of CLAMP's best we get no characterization or real explanation of who these characters are or what makes then tick they are flat and dull and the only thing propelling the story is the story not the characters this is another case of if you replaced them would it matter and the answer to that is no. CStory: OH boy. This is a story of ghost hunting and not the fun kind. While compelling this story was interesting it played out more as a soap opera with hints at some boy love (a 16 and 25 year old at that) as far as stories go we only see two ghosts helped and we are introduced to a mysery that isn't solved. Unlike most manga or most Clamp manga while reading this you feel like you walked in on a conversation and instead of stopping to really explain the people just keep talking. The names were also hard to remember the relationships hazy at best and a male and female character looking exactly alike making it hard to tell them apart. While this was entertaining it was also confusing but not bad confusing like you didn't know the plot just confusing in that you didn't know where the plot starts and where it's coming from other then “the love of tokyo” sadly this is true. While reading the description you think this will be a horror and are ready for such however you are given a comedy sprinkled with supernatural and gay love while its not bad its not great either just OK. C Cover: Subaru in uniform all in red with 1991 on the front of his hat and uniform with a ball that has japan on it with japanese words in back. This is rather dull and gives off an air that this story will be creepier then it actually is it isn't eye catching and other then the uniform this cover isn't interesting and is actually to red. To the point that it hurts to look at it CRating: T for teen Company: Tokyopop (out of business) My rating : 3 of 5 Not what I expected and the BL subplot was gross this was a let down (an also not that spooky but at least it had to deal with ghost so... thats close enough)
