4.5After reading Archers Voice I was so curious how MS could really redeem Travis in my eyes. Even after what he did for Archer and Bree at the end of the book.That being said I was pleasantly surprised with how I felt towards Travis in this book.What I will say is that I wholeheartedly do forgive Travis for his transgressions during AV. That being said I do think there were a few moments in this book that the old Travis creeped in with certain things he did and said.Him still being in contact with his mom was the thing that kind of annoyed me. I get she is his mom but she wasn't a good mother to him and he has a family in Archer, Bree and the kids that is miles more rewarding that being involved with Victoria Hale.The fact that she kept that letter from him and perpetuated his bitterness for years was a line I am genuinely not surprised she would cross but was so heart-breaking for Travis to find that out and for all the things he did to Archer in some sort of revenge for something that wasn't even true.Him catching his girlfriend cheating on him was not as impactful because it happened at the start of the book and I had yet to forgive him for AV yet. It didn't make me happy but I wasn't sad either.Who she cheated on him with though was interesting in the long run lol.Then there is Haven. I enjoyed her as a character even if at times I found her a little withdrawn (rightfully so considering her past) but also a little hypocritical. She was effectively using Travis and then when he wanted more still went on a date with Gage knowing her feelings had changed for both men. Not only hurting Travis but stringing along Gage when he didn't deserve that.Now while I did enjoy this book. What I didn't like was the ending. I understand why he did what he did but where he did it and to the extent was really unnecessary. It was also done so far to the end that it was a little rushed in my opinion. That could have been avoided if Travis had just kept an eye on Spencer and the task he gave him, knowing it was a revenge plan and that when he started developing feeling for Haven he should have pulled the plug so that was his fault. While I understand Haven's reaction to what was presented I think considering how they left things, with Travis declaring his feelings and asking her to stay, she could have at least listened to him. What saved the ending for me was the scene between Travis and Archer. That had me in tears. That was so heartfelt and emotional. Loved that. So my issues with the ending is the only reason this is not a 5 star rating although I still definitely recommend this book.

I already loved the town of Pelion Lake in Archer's Voice and fell in love with the town again in this book. I love seeing inside Travis's head and his motivations for life. I enjoyed seeing him be redeemed as a better person, uncle, and brother than in Archer's Voice. I just love the town and Mia Sheridan's writing has this lyrical tone that drags you in, gets you emotional, and doesn't release you until the end.
