Description

Trusting in God

St. Thomas Aquinas defines trust as “the confident assurance of him whose help has been promised.” First, the person looks towards the person who has promised to help them. In this case, it is God, who has promised to help those who are journeying towards the Kingdom of Heaven. “You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you.” “Seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness over you and all these things will be added unto you.” When we are giving ourselves to the first truth we put ourselves in a position where the first truth takes care of our every need. One reason we can have confidence in God is because it is he who has chosen us to bear the image of the Son he loves. Secondly, we can trust in God because of his promise to the Son to give him those who would live eternally with him. “Father, I will that those whom you have given me may be with me, to see this glory you have given to me.”
