I've read 14 Philip Roth books, this one is 100% bottom of the list. It's a very thin book with practically none of the depth of any of his novels, even obscure ones like The Breast or Deception have in abundance. It felt more like an erotic novel written by an old man who just happens to be one of the world's greatest living authors at the time.
