Description
From the second I saw her, I knew she’d be my ruin.
Sitting all alone at the bar, she looked like an angel.
Eurydice in human form; her beauty eclipsed by demons.
Now, I’m one of them.
The ghost she’s tried for years to escape.
Thinking I wouldn’t be able to find her.
But I never stopped trying, and now that I have,
Her past sins should be the least of her worries.
Riley
From the moment he saw me, I knew I’d ruin his life.
Alone at the bar, I dared the monster to come and play.
Orpheus in the flesh, with his sad songs and strange obsessions.
I became one of them.
The siren who calls to the darkest parts of him.
Only, I disappeared before he could act on it.
But now he’s here,
and he wants me to repent for my sins.

View AllThis was another buddy read with one of my best good friends ;)After Kal and Elena, I was worried Riley and Aiden wouldn't live up to them. Now while I did love these characters for many reasons, what I will say is that it took me more time to get invested in them. That being said I did want to see where their story went.I will say that this book contained the one troupe I really don't like in books, miscommunication, I was concerned what that plot point was revealed. what I was hoping for was that it wasn't dragged out like some other books do. Now while I don't like that troupe and that at times I was frustrated I will say that in this story it is the most justified I have seen that troupe used so I will not mention anymore about that.As for the characters of Riley and Aiden I think they are both damaged in similar and different ways that if they met under different circumstances, where certain people weren't working against them, I think they would have still ended up together. Aiden makes Riley see the beauty in herself and that scars aren't something that can define you. Those moments between Aiden and Riley when he talks about her scars were very emotional for me due to personal reasons and I really resonated with his history a lot. The conclusion in regards to Riley's past was a little disappointing to me, I was expecting something to happen where Aiden would be involved. I will say I was surprised by the situation that happened after that. It was a great redirect on the authors part to make you think the situation was dealt with and then do a complete 360 and that it wasn't really anything to do with Riley but she git it as a biproduct.Even with the few small issues I had (which are more personal preference by the way) I still really enjoyed this book and would recommend it.I cannot wait for the next book. Right Gee? Lol
This was genuinely amazing. After reading King’s Trace Series I grew attached to Riley and hopes to see her again, imagine how happy I was when she popped up in Kal’s book and realized she will have her own. Omg this was perfect for them. My baby girl went through sm and I’m so happy she got a happy ending. Also the fact that we saw a view of their story in book one
