Description

Jane is a woman who has always prided herself on her composure and grace under pressure. She navigates her life with a meticulous sense of control, but everything changes one fateful night. As the events unfold, the layers of her carefully constructed facade begin to crack. The unexpected occurs, and Jane must confront a side of herself she never knew existed.

In a dramatic turn of events, her world is turned upside down when passion and chaos invade her orderly existence. Faced with temptations and challenges that threaten to dismantle her notions of propriety, Jane discovers that losing one's composure can lead to unexpected freedom. The night awakens desires she has suppressed for too long, pushing her to embrace her true self.

As Jane grapples with her shifting emotions, she embarks on a journey of self-discovery, exploring the tension between decorum and her newfound yearning for authenticity. It’s a story about breaking free from societal constraints and finding strength in vulnerability, urging her to redefine what it truly means to embrace life in all its wild, messy glory.

In this first book, we got to know a little about the warriors and their demons and also followed the love story of Maddox and Ashlyn. I loved this book, as well as Dark Lover, the romance is built very quickly, let's say the couple has an instant connection - so if you don't like stories like that this book isn't for you - But it didn't hurt their chemistry that it was wonderful. The book ends with a feeling of wanting more and that the story will develop further. I love that the next book comes soon to Lucien because he is already my favourite. And yes, it's mainly because he's called Lucien and reminds me of Lucien from ACOTAR

I've read a few books by Susan Mallery this year mostly from the Fool's Gold series and I enjoy them, they are not life changing or intense BUT they are a fun few hours of entertainment. Someone recommended that I read a different series by Susan Mallery, I'm glad I did I give Sweet Talk (Bakery Sisters #1) ★★★★. I liked the complicated relationship between the sisters. I like that the sweet prodigy Claire finally found some backbone and stood up to everyone who want to tell her she wasn't worthy. I glad that Nicole the sister who took care of the baby sister and the business realized that life isn't always greener on the other side.
