Description
This Memoir, from the Papers of Colonel Sir Francis FitzMaurice, recounts events that followed the successful solution to the murder of Prince Jurat and the attempted theft of his painting -- Leonardo's "Madonna of the Yarnwinder." In that story, Gerard de Montclaire, the most famous detective of the Edwardian Era, was able to bring the murderer to a kind of rough justice, but he was not altogether successful in preventing the ultimate theft of the painting. This story tell of Montclaire's hot pursuit and recovery of the painting and of the punishment meted out to the thief.
