It was fine, and thankfully not nearly as dark as the other books in the series, which was honestly a nice change. I still don’t understand the obsession with blood play throughout these books. I get that some readers are into it, but did every single character really need to have the same kink?I did like Cage and Molly together, though. My biggest issue was that the story focused more on Molly reuniting with Cage than on her reunion with Layla. Molly’s entire motivation throughout the series was escaping that house to save Layla, so it felt disappointing that we barely got to see how their relationship developed afterward. Considering how important Layla was to her character arc, their reunion deserved a lot more attention.
I was really interested in reading this after reading Haunting Adeline, it made so curious about Molly. She has been through more than one would have thought and she is still standing. I devoured the story in one afternoon and it was so good. Also Zade and Adeline showing up in the end? That was so cool.
I went into Where’s Molly without having read the first two books in the series, since I was buddy reading this one with a friend. While the premise was intriguing and I liked the tension surrounding Molly’s disappearance, I often felt like I was missing important context that would have made the story more impactful. One of my biggest hang-ups was wanting more background on Molly’s life during the eight months she was missing. That period felt glossed over, and I would have loved deeper insight into what she experienced, how it shaped her, and how it influenced her decisions once she returned.I also struggled with the romance. Instant love tropes aren’t really my thing, and the relationship developed so quickly that it pulled me out of the story instead of drawing me in emotionally.Overall, it wasn’t a bad read, but I think I would have enjoyed it more with more character depth and a slower, more developed emotional arc—especially given the heavy subject matter.
really shared a truly saddening story, and helped make the book addy read more understanding. i wish there was more as I would like to hear more about present Molly and how she and her sister are going.
Being able to read Mollys story through more than just diary entries was so much better than expected. I am so ready to read the rest of Mollys story. Her story is pure heartbreak. But I loved every minute of it.
Cute novella on who Molly was and how the journal was left in Francesca house that Addie ultimately finds in Haunting Adeline.Cage...I ❤️ It was not as dark as I thought it would be. However, I loved it.
My Rating: ★★★★★Where's Molly by H.D Carlton, published on February 16th, 2024, is a haunting and gripping continuation in the world of the Cat & Mouse Duet, delving deeper into darkness and unanswered questions.Molly Devereaux's disappearance has left a void that echoes through every page of this dark romance. Set against the backdrop of the Oregon woods and the rugged beauty of Montana, the narrative unfolds with eerie suspense. The protagonist, grappling with life after death, navigates a world that feels both ethereal and menacing.Carlton's writing draws you into a realm where beauty and horror coexist, where the protagonist's nightly rituals unveil chilling truths. The atmosphere is thick with tension and mystery, urging readers to confront uncomfortable truths about human nature and the unseen forces that shape our lives. While Where's Molly stands on its own as a compelling read, it strongly recommends diving into the preceding novels, Haunting Adeline and Hunting Adeline, to fully grasp the intricate web of dark themes and character motivations.Personally, the unresolved ending left me craving more—a testament to Carlton's skill in weaving a narrative that refuses to let go. If you're drawn to dark romances that delve into complex emotions and uncharted territories of the human psyche, Where's Molly is a must-read. Just be prepared for lingering questions that demand answers.
I swear when I’m reading this book I have felt all emotions. I don’t even know where to begin. First though is I love it! This is just a short read since it’s like 20 chaps + epi.
What Molly experienced was never okay. She didn’t deserve it. I’ve felt all her emotions, her pain and I’m happy she coped in her own way. She is incredible, funny and her thoughts are so raw that I felt for it too. And I’m glad my girl got out of that fucking hell and I’m glad that at the end she materializes with Molly than Marie as a name.
Cage Everhart is everything I love to have Molly in her side. He’s funny, thoughtful and smart. And I so love his thoughts. The way he loves is everything I could’ve asked for someone like Molly who has gone through a lot. I love that Cage shares his pain with her.
I would love nothing for this world than to see my cuties happy, alive and in love.
AND CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW RAW IT FELT WHEN MY GIRLS MOLLY AND ADDIE MET IN THE END?? Coz Molly wrote those letters for someone who has been experiencing the same thing as her and when Addie found it she finds comfort in it.
Also, I would give anything just to see Zade, Addy, Molly, Cage, Sibby, and Kraven (?) all together. [Ps: Is it safe to assume that Legion will also get his own story? Hmmmmm.]
