Bash is so hot. I love Gwen, one of my favourite fmcs shes so happy and bubbly! Clyde is the perfect comedic relief in this book, (reminds me of Hank in consider me). The age gap of Bash and Gwen is perfect and works so well, I love it. The age gap tropes is officially one of my fav tropes.

Rating: 4.5 stars.“you look at her like she hung the moon, and she’s the only woman in the world who finds your shitty attitude to be endearing.”Okay but LISTEN… this book had me in an absolute choke hold from the very first page. The setup?? Iconic. Bash is 39, just found out he has a whole grown son he never knew about, and he’s still reeling from the whiplash of suddenly being a dad when fate decides to throw him another curve ball. Enter Gwen. Gorgeous, magnetic, instant sparks at the airport—like their chemistry was that kind you can’t fake. I was already swooning, already building wedding playlists in my head for them.But THEN. THEN. Months later, Bash meets his son’s girlfriend and I almost screamed into my pillow because GUESS. WHO. IT. IS. Yep. Gwen. The woman he cannot stop thinking about. The way I had to put the book down and pace because of the sheer tension, I swear my heart was pounding out of my chest. It’s angsty, it’s forbidden, it’s messy in the BEST way possible. The father/son dynamics, the heartbreak of impossible choices, the stolen glances, the emotional torture of wanting but not being able to have,it’s pure catnip for me.me when Bash….“And I… Gwen, I need you. Like my next breath. It’s… I can’t breathe without you. If you leave for Costa Rica, I’m coming with you. Where you go, I’ll follow. I don’t care where we are as long as we’re together.”Okay but YES, this is exactly the kind of messy trope I secretly (okay, not-so-secretly) live for, and the way it was handled here made it such an addictive, binge-worthy read. Like, let’s be real: Gwen sleeping with Bash’s son before falling for Bash? That’s the definition of dramaaaa. And yet somehow it didn’t feel gross or like a cheap plot device. There was no cheating, no unnecessary scandal, it was just this forbidden, high-stakes setup that made every single interaction between Gwen and Bash feel loaded with tension.“Work is safe. Personal lives are dicey. Gwen is personal. And I sure as shit don’t want to talk to him about her. I don’t even want to think about her. With him.”And can we talk about the delicious contrast between him and his son?? On one hand you’ve got Tripp, privileged and immature, still figuring out how to be an adult. And on the other hand, Bash, mature, steady, self-aware, and just radiating this quiet intensity that made every interaction with Gwen so magnetic. It highlighted not only how much better suited Gwen was for him, but also how refreshingly adult their relationship felt despite the trope’s usual reputation for being all scandal and no substance.Tripp, honestly, was not a terrible guy. He just read like a total man-child who still has some growing up to do (and omg if he ever gets his own book I am THERE because I want to see his redemption arc so bad
This book was cute but Clyde was the best part in my opinion.

But also, it’s Elsie Silver, so obviously I inhaled it like oxygen. The messier the dynamic, the harder I fall.Bash and Gwen? Unreal. The chemistry, the tension, the slow unraveling of “we definitely shouldn’t” into “yeah, we’re absolutely doing this.” That airport meet-cute in the dark? Top-tier chaos. The banter? Flawless. The spice? Criminal.Honestly, if Rose Hill had to end, I’m glad we went out with this absolute wildfire of a love story. All the cameos, the found family moments, the teasing callbacks, it felt like a proper goodbye. To work on my feelings.” 💃GwenGwen is everything I want in a leading lady—strong, self-aware, compassionate, and willing to grow. She’s not afraid to speak up, challenge you, or walk away when needed. I wish more FMCs were like her. “I allow myself to acknowledge that I am not every person’s cup of tea. Maybe I am more than they can handle. And that’s okay because I’m quite fond of myself, and no one can take that from me.” 😒Tripp Tripp gave me the ick so many times. The way he talked to Gwen felt entitled and dismissive. That being said, I did appreciate his growth toward the end—it felt genuine, which is rare for the “bad guy” type. 😂ClydeClyde!!! He completely stole the show. His witty comebacks, warm heart, and overall energy reminded me so much of my late grandfather. i hate to say it but i fear the appeal of elsie silver is starting to wear off for me. will i continue to read her releases? yeah, of course. but honestly so many of her books are starting to feel far too similar for me. y'all dragged devney perry for the same thing, i want you to keep the same energy here!!!aside from that gwen felt like a walmart version of hazel from the fake out by stephanie archer & bash was just another basic broody guy like most of her other mmcs. a lot of their interactions and conversations felt really stunted and inauthentic to me, even though i could see the potential in their relationship. loved their meet cute tho
3.75I think romance books don't need to be 400+ or 500+ pages long, like what you have to tell in a romance book that you need that much of pages?this was beautiful as always. Anything by Elsie is beautiful but didn't need to be long to be beautiful.I loved the characters, their development, the struggles, how they first met everything was really enjoyableClyde, ughhh, I loveee him soo freaking much!!
