Description

Jack had always felt an unshakeable bond with Eleanor West's School for Wayward Children, a place where the lost and unique found solace. But as she returned, memories of her past reverberated through her mind, entwined with a sinister quest that compelled her back. The darkness that lies just beneath the surface of her world threatens to consume not only her but also those she cherishes. With each step, Jack must confront her fears, unravel secrets, and piece together the haunting truths of her journey.

The atmosphere is thick with mystery and layered emotional turmoil, as the characters grapple with their identities and the choices that have shaped them. Each encounter pushes their resilience to the limits, challenging the bonds formed in their childhood. This vividly imagined landscape is both a refuge and a battleground, where friendship and loyalty intertwine with betrayal and danger. Jack’s return is not just about reconnecting with the past; it’s about seeking redemption and finding a way to emerge whole amidst the chaos.

I enjoy the individual stories in this series much more than I enjoy the group adventures. I read the odd-numbered books just so I can get to the even-numbered books in this series. However, I actually enjoyed this one. It might have been the fact that I've been really invested in Jill and Jack's story since the beginning, it might be that I really like the Moors, it might be that I always enjoy weird mad-scientist in my stories.(The only thing I didn't understand is why does Cora have to be soooo annoying?)
