Reviews
View AllNot sure why everyone enjoys this so much. The characters aren't enjoyable, the story was very confusing, and I wish there was more world building just so I could understand how the magic works.
Run, don't walk to read this book. Tamsyn Muir is probably one of the most underrated world-builders in the game right now. The nine houses feel so alive (pin intended) and I love every new tidbit of culture I get about each one through the medium of a Sci-Fi murder mystery. It's a lot to get through the first time. There are so many names, planets, families, houses, etc. That it felt really overwhelming the first time I read through this. Turns out, through giving it a few more read-throughs, this all weaves into one of the most dynamic, tragic, unique romances that I've ever read.
