I really loved this book and the dark prison atmosphere. I really like Kiva as a person she's been through so much allready.

🏥4.5 stars!💂♀️For me, five star ratings are very rare, but I think this book deserves one. Everyone online is saying how niche and underrated it was, and I wanted to be in the know. And here I am, glad to say that it is worth the hype.🫰FAVOURITE: The plot twists at the end had me SHOOK. Just when I thought it couldn't twist further, it did. Did NOT see that coming. I can't wait for a reread of this book.👍Really loved the characters! Tipp is adorable, Mot is funny and Naari is a memorable side character as well. Obviously, I love our main characters a ton.👍The plot was pretty good. Aside from the plot twists, I also really liked the mystery side plot of the stomach virus (love Tipp's random fascination with rats, by the way).👍An oddly emotional read? I cried like, 6 times. It goes a bit into some deep topics, which I didn't expect, but ended up not minding it.👌The romance was just a bit rushed. Jaren indeed is a bit idiotic and it felt kinda insta-lovey, especially on Jaren's side. But after finishing the whole book, their hasted romance was very much necessary to the plot.👌Some parts of the story were confusing, but it clears up in the end. 👌Liked the writing! Good pacing, good prose. But there was nothing EXCEPTIONAL about it, hence the "okay" category.

Nah fam, when I started this book, I was prepared to DNF because most romantasies that I pick up these days seem so repetitive. But boiiii was I wrong. I was engrossed from the first chapter and got attached to the characters so easily (Day 1 Kiva fan). And as the story progressed, it just kept getting better, the way the trials were described, Kiva's distress, it felt like I was with her. I got so addicted I threw out my schedule just to finish it today.But THE ENDING THOUGH!!!!! (Like from chapter 30 to 33, I was pacing around the house, getting all nervous and excited and everything. Thank God the sequels are out cause I'm about to jump straight into the next books.
I am a sucker for Lynette Noni and this book was no different to me.I spent most of last year in a reading slump and even when I got given an ARC in December it still took me a couple of months to crack it open and when I did I went through the whole thing in one straight sitting.Being completely honest, yes there were moments I found myself having to push through when it came to world building and exposition but I'm also the kind of person who doesn't love "world build now, story later". I like story and flashback and explain how things work as we're going.Oh my god and that ending? I loved it, I sat up in bed and actually yelled at it. All in all I would read this again and again and I'm so ready for the next two books. It hit all my tropes, I adored it.
The ending was so unexpected I did not know how to feel but it was a great dook
This book was pleasantly different to what I’ve been reading lately. Sure, I expected the trials to be more…dramatic and important and the revelation of the sickness everyone was getting to be a bigger deal with a bigger, more dramatic revelation. But it was good. I wish I could have seen Jaren more than we did, but the revelations around him and why he’s in the prison is definitely shocking. I thought I knew what would be revealed, but was only half wrong. But the ending…god, the ending left me gobsmacked and ready to start the next book after Tilda died. I WAS NOT expecting that, at all. I mean, I thought I had a pretty good idea at what would be revealed about Kiva—but not this. Though, the thing that left me a little disappointed is that we don’t really get to see much of the prison or the other characters or the true cruelty in this book. And the ending…I was expecting Kiva’s family to finally help break her out and then all of them being on the run from authorities, the crown, etc. it has not ended up that way—but the revelations surrounding Kiva and her history are definitely surprising and worth the read.
Love to this book and the ending. I was staring at the wall. The characters, the building, and the storyline were amazing. I really enjoyed it 😊❤️. In the process of the story I had some theories but almost everything I was wrong. It had me at the last couple of chapters on the edge of my seat.
Nothing like going into a book that you've been putting off forever and falling madly and deeply in love. Encouraged by nothing but my expiring library hold, I finally got around to reading this book that has been on my tbr for forever and I couldn't be happier. This world is the perfect escapism. The character well fleshed out and lovable (and hateable when they need to be) and the plot twist were plot twisting!!It almost makes me want to write again.The end was very...interesting, and I look forward to finding out what happens next.

¡Menudo inicio de saga! La verdad es que es bastante oscuro, brutal y cargado de emociones. Los personajes me han encantado, y el final deja con ganas de más. También, la pluma es muy ligera y adictiva.
