And those sparks only shine because of the darkness.”A beautiful story of danger, healing, and finding peace.Fragile Sanctuary follows Rhodes, a woman who is not only going through a lot—but has been through a lot. She’s reached a point in her life where she’s trying to heal and finally claim some sense of peace. Enter Anson, her brother’s best friend: grumpy, aloof, and resistant to anything that resembles kindness. When their lives become intertwined through a job that has Anson helping repair Rhodes’s house, they slowly begin to realize they might be exactly what the other needs. As their connection deepens and dangerous elements from their pasts begin to threaten their present, Anson and Rhodes may find that the only person they can truly rely on is each other. The Sparrow Falls series is one of my most anticipated series of the year, and Fragile Sanctuary was a beautiful and emotionally strong start. I was completely obsessed with Rhodes and Anson from the very first page. Fun fact: I told myself I’d read just the first chapter—and ended up finishing the entire book in one day. This style of story is one of my favorite romance subgenres: romance blended with drama and mystery, layered with danger and high stakes. The characters truly carried this story. Rhodes, while still healing from her past, remains kind and hopeful, which made her so easy to love. Anson was a fantastic MMC—haunted by his own past, emotionally closed off, yet undeniably drawn to the light that is Rho. I also loved the plot and how everything came together so seamlessly; the writing was fantastic. The side characters added even more depth, and I’m already desperate for future books centered around them. The small glimpses we got weren’t nearly enough. Based on this first book alone, this series has the potential to become one of my all-time favorites.Tropes: grief & healing, age gap, found family, lovable animal companion, romantic suspense, high stakesI would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves romance—especially romantic suspense with darker elements. If you’re a fan of any of these tropes, this one is absolutely worth picking up.
